Chore Rota

Chore chart template

A chore chart template is a ready-made grid: weeks down the side, jobs across the top, a name in every box. This one is built for housemates, couples and other adult households sharing a home. It is not a kids' reward chart.

Print this page from your browser, which leaves the menu and footer off the paper. The four jobs in the header are only a starting point; cross them out and write your own.

Filled template: four people, four jobs

Ana, Ben, Cai and Dee fill the template with the generator's rotation: in week 1 the first job goes to the first person, the second job to the second person, and so on. From then on every job moves one person along.

Filled template: three people, four jobs

When a household has more jobs than people, someone holds two jobs in the same week. The same rule still decides who: here Ana has the kitchen and the floors in week 1, and the double load moves round.

How to adapt the template

Skip the writing: make the rota with calendar links

The chore rota generator fills this template for you from a list of names and jobs, adds real dates and gives every housemate a personal link that downloads their own calendar (.ics) file.

The free version makes rotas for up to 4 people and up to 4 weeks. More people, or a run past four weeks, need the paid Chore Rota Pro licence, which covers up to 12 people and up to 26 weeks and nothing above that.

Privacy: the schedule lives only in the link. Anyone with the link can read the names and chores in it, and nothing is stored on a server. Details are on the privacy page.
